高粘度泵顾名思义，就是输送高粘度、及包含细软颗粒的介质的油泵。高粘度泵根据不同流量、不同的使用工况，有不同等型号选择。高粘度泵等用途也是非常广泛的，根据介质粘稠度等不同要选择不同的转速。
使用过程中，电动机通过减速器减速来带两个同步反转动的转子在旋转过程中于处产生吸力（真空度），从而吸入所要输送的物料。两转子将转子室分隔几个小空间，并按a b c d 的次序运转；运转至位置a 时，只有 I 室中充满介质；到位置 b 时，B室中封闭了部分介质；到位置c 时，A 室中也封闭了部分介质；到位置 d 时，A、B 室与 II 室相通，介质既被输送至出料口。这样高粘度泵便完成了一次输送过程。
在用途上，大多用在高粘稠度的油脂、油漆、胶水、化工原料上。不锈钢材质的高粘度泵还可以用在食品行业，输送面糊、浆料、蜂蜜、牙膏等。
