不锈钢齿轮泵齿轮平稳啮合运转须满足的条件是齿轮重叠系数要略大于1，也就是后一对齿轮要在前一对齿轮脱离其啮合之前进入啮合。如果两对齿轮同时啮合，则就会因为齿轮端面很小的间隙使得它们之间的油液和泵的吸、排油腔都被堵塞，从而产生一个封闭容积。因此在齿轮转动时，这个封闭容积就会变化，同时就会因为里面的液体受到压缩或膨胀导致容积内的压力产生急剧变化，导致困油现象。液体可压缩性比较小，若封闭容积减小，就会导致其油液的压力剧增，因此高压油就会由各种缝隙发生泄漏，使功率下降，机件受激振动，油液发热，产生困油噪声。
