Why can't the gear oil pump pump pump water

Gear oil pump is designed specifically for conveying high viscosity and well lubricated liquids. Its main application objects include various oils, fats, and other fluids with lubricating properties.

In contrast, the viscosity of water is much lower than these liquids and lacks sufficient lubricity. Therefore, using a gear oil pump to pump water often leads to the following problems:

1. Increased wear: Due to the poor lubricity of water, direct contact between gears and high-speed operation will generate more friction and heat, accelerating the wear of components such as gears, shafts, and bearings.

5. Rust and Corrosion: Ordinary steel gear pumps may experience rust when exposed to water for a long time, especially when standing still, which poses a potential threat to the pump body and internal metal components.

Of course, if it is necessary to use water or other low viscosity, non lubricating liquids as the working medium, a specially designed "water use" gear pump can be used. Such pumps usually make targeted improvements in materials, structure, sealing methods, and other aspects,
