Things to pay attention to when using a gear pump to pump asphalt or waste engine oil

When using a gear pump to pump high viscosity, highly abrasive, and potentially impurity containing media such as asphalt and waste engine oil, special attention should be paid to the following points to ensure the effective operation of the pump and extend its service life:

For asphalt

1. Heating and insulation: Asphalt is in a solid or high viscosity state at room temperature and must be turned into a flowing state by heating before it can be pumped.

Use a gear pump with heating function or an external heating device to maintain the temperature of asphalt above its softening point, reduce viscosity, and facilitate smooth transportation.

2. * * Choose the appropriate pump type * *: Look for gear pumps specifically designed for high viscosity media, which typically have large gear clearances and strong high-temperature resistance.

3. * * Preventing coking * *: Asphalt is prone to oxidation and polymerization at high temperatures, forming hard lumps that can clog the pump inlet or outlet. Ensure that there is a good insulation layer inside and outside the pump body, adjust the heating temperature reasonably, and avoid local overheating.

Regarding waste engine oil

3. Corrosion Protection: Waste engine oil may contain corrosive substances. Choose pump bodies and sealing materials with strong corrosion resistance, such as stainless steel or special alloys.

4. Maintenance and Cleaning: Regularly clean the pump body and filtration system, inspect and replace worn parts, and maintain the best working condition of the pump.

General precautions

-Pump start stop: Start up for the first time or after a long period of disuse to ensure that the pump and pipeline are fully preheated and avoid mechanical shock caused by sudden start.
