Introduction and installation steps of mechanical seals for circular arc pumps

1、 With the progress of society, environmental protection requirements are becoming increasingly high, and enterprises pay more attention to environmental protection in the production process. In chemical enterprises, there are many media in contact, especially corrosive media, which can cause leakage problems. Therefore, in the selection process of circular arc gear oil pumps, it is required to ensure no leakage in daily production processes. Therefore, currently, the sealing method of most arc gear oil pumps adopts mechanical sealing. The gear oil pump adopts a mechanical sealing structure compared to packing sealing, which has good sealing performance, low power consumption, long online use time, and good buffering performance due to the buffer spring, making it more widely used. Compared with packing seals, it has a complex structure, strict processing accuracy and installation requirements, and high requirements for the quality and technical level of installation personnel. Therefore, identifying the causes of mechanical seal leakage and solving them has practical significance, which can enhance the service life of the mechanical seal online

Mechanical seal, also known as end face seal, is a sealing device that is composed of one or more pairs of dynamic and static ring contact surfaces perpendicular to the pump shaft. Under the combined action of medium pressure and compensating spring force inside the pump, it maintains contact and relative rotation to prevent liquid leakage from the contact surface. Mainly used for sealing the rotating shaft of pumps, compressors, hydraulic transmissions, and other similar equipment. Its main function is to change the axial seal that is prone to leakage into a mechanical seal on the end face that is more difficult to leak. During the working process, a liquid film is formed between the dynamic and static rings, which not only serves as a sealing medium but also provides lubrication and reduces the wear of the friction pair

2. Installation Steps for Mechanical Seals of Arc Gear Oil Pump

Mechanical seals are high-precision mechanical components that require high installation requirements. The static ring is generally made of fragile materials such as graphite, and should be handled with care to prevent human damage. Maintaining cleanliness is also an important part of installation. To install a set of arc gear oil pump mechanical seals, the precision of other components that match it should be controlled according to the standard, and each sealing point should be handled well. The compression of the spring and auxiliary sealing ring should be adjusted within the required range. The installation workers need to undergo training and long-term practice to be foolproof.

1. Confirm that the product model and specifications are consistent with the equipment requirements

2. Check whether the surface machining accuracy of the rotating shaft and shaft sleeve meets the requirements, and ensure that the rotating shaft is installed on the bearing box and rotates freely without jamming, axial displacement, and radial runout meet the standards specified by the Ministry of Petrochemical Industry

3. Remove burrs from components such as the rotating shaft, shaft sleeve, sealing chamber, and pressure cover, and clean them thoroughly

4. Measure whether the installation parts and auxiliary sealing dimensions meet the requirements by referring to the installation drawings

5. Evenly apply oil to the contact area between the shaft, cavity, pressure cover, and auxiliary sealing ring where the seal is installed (note: lubricating oil is not allowed to be injected into ethylene propylene rubber or medium, vegetable oil or soapy water can be applied, and for static ring installation without anti rotation pin, oil is generally not allowed) for easy installation

6. Install the static ring and its O-ring in the static ring cover. During installation, be careful not to tilt the static ring and measure it while installing. The deviation should not exceed 0.05mm

7. By measuring and calculating the compression amount of the spring, fix the position of the moving ring seat on the shaft sleeve, install the moving ring and compress it towards the spring side. The moving ring can automatically rebound without any jamming phenomenon

8. Install the static ring and pressure cover together on the shaft, taking care not to collide with the shaft and taking protective measures to prevent damage to the static ring. Then, install the shaft sleeve and dynamic ring

9. Install the pump cover and impeller, and pay attention to the treatment of each sealing point

10. After fixing the pump cover and impeller, before fixing the static ring cover, manually push the compensating ring for axial compression. After loosening, the compensating ring can automatically rebound without any jamming phenomenon, and then lock the cover bolts evenly
