Two types of transmission structure arrangements and cause measures for LC Roots pumps

(1) The two transmission structures of the LC Roots pump are arranged through a pair of gears to achieve relative synchronous operation of the two rotors of the Roots pump. The driving shaft is connected to the motor through a coupling. There are mainly two types of transmission structure layout:

One is that the electric motor and gear are placed on the same side of the rotor. The driven rotor is directly driven by the motor end gear, so that the torsional deformation of the active rotor shaft is small, and the gap between the two rotors will not change due to the large torsional deformation of the active shaft, so that the gap between the rotors is uniform during operation

The major disadvantage of this transmission method is that: a. there are three bearings on the driving shaft, which increases the difficulty of processing and assembling the pump, and the disassembly and adjustment of the gears are also inconvenient; b. The overall structure is uneven, and the center of gravity of the pump leans towards the side of the motor and gearbox

Another method is to install the electric motor and transmission gear on both sides of the rotor. This form makes the overall structure of the pump uniform, but the main shaft undergoes significant torsional deformation. To ensure even clearance of the rotor during operation, it is required that the shaft has sufficient stiffness and the connection between the shaft and rotor should be tightened (currently, there are structures where the rotor is welded or cast into one with the shaft). This structure is very convenient for disassembly and assembly, so it is widely used

(II) Reasons and Measures for Excessive Oil Consumption of Roots Pump

It is reported that during operation, if there is excessive consumption of lubricating oil, it indicates that there is a serious problem inside the equipment. This requires us to stop the machine and conduct maintenance in a timely manner to avoid internal faults causing huge wear and tear on the equipment and causing more serious consequences.

. So we need to understand the reasons and solutions that cause excessive fuel consumption in the equipment

1. Oil leakage

Roots pump oil leakage is generally the main cause of excessive fuel consumption. Maintenance personnel need to quickly identify the location of the oil leakage and repair it as needed.

. It should be emphasized that pump oil leakage can cause oil to accumulate in the machine and other areas. To reduce pollution, it is recommended to use specialized cleaning agents for maintenance and repair

2. Too much oil in the valve chamber

It may be due to wear on the valve guide, piston rings and cylinder liners, and damaged sealing rings of the turbocharger, which can also cause excessive oil consumption in the Roots pump.

3. The oil temperature is too high

Roots pump users should check the operation of the oil cooler after stopping for a period of time, replace with new parts, and clean the oil cooler core.

4. Excessive oil in the engine

Maintenance personnel should remove excess oil, identify the source of this oil, use appropriate oil in the engine, and do not add too much oil for oil leakage.

So once you find that the Roots pump you are using consumes too much oil during operation, you can carry out maintenance according to the above aspects to identify the causes of excessive oil consumption in the equipment and take targeted measures to solve it. After dealing with the fault problem, you can also perform relevant maintenance work on the equipment to prevent it from happening again
